Do I Need Removal First?

If you have had cosmetic tattooing previously and would like corrective work or removal, please e-mail a well-lit photo of what you’re working with to stunningbasilbrows@gmail.com. All removal appointments should be discussed with Jayme before scheduled, and may often times be made through Jayme.

The process of removal is quite a bit more uncomfortable than cosmetic tattooing (or at least how I tattoo). It’s best done without numbing for the first pass, but numbing can be used for those with sensitive skin. Numbing is used after the first pass, but cannot be used more than that. You should expect the area to look a bit darker and perhaps a bit bloody immediately after your procedure, as we are lifting the pigment with saline through a process called “osmosis.” This, of course, is not the final result. Patience is required to get you where you’d like to be safely. You may need 2-5 sessions before we can begin color-correction and a new brow tattoo. Think of the skin as a sponge; it has to be less saturated to even accept more pigment. We can’t add more pigment on top of heavily saturated brows and expect the pigment to take. Results cannot be foreseen, predicted, or guaranteed.

Healing takes 7-10 days. You should expect much more scabbing with removal than with what you experienced during your cosmetic tattooing healing process. However, much like your previous experience, you’ll need to keep the area clean and dry while healing. Don’t schedule this procedure if you have an important event that week. Aftercare goodies and info will be given to you at each appointment. Your removal sessions must be scheduled at least 7 weeks apart from one another.
