How Can I Make Sure I Have Good Retention?

Microblading + Nanobrows is generally a very safe procedure for most (please either fill out our client questionnaire or research if you’re a good candidate). However, everyone’s retention of the ink is a little different. Sometimes it’s due to things we cannot control, but if we can, we might as well. This is an investment in ourselves, after all.

BEFORE

Do not use retinol products within 2 weeks of your upcoming appointment. Botox is to be administered no sooner than 3 weeks before your brow appointment. You must not be pregnant to get a cosmetic tattoo. You shan’t have used Accutane within the last year. If you are on medications that cause your blood to thin or you bleed easily regardless you shouldn’t get microbladed as the blood will push the ink out. You have to wait 2 weeks after completing antibiotics before having this done. Don’t heavily drink alcohol or caffeine within 74 hours of your appointment and cut both out 24 hours before. Acne and sunburns in the eyebrow area will result in rescheduling. If you were ill within less than seven days of your appointment, this can effect your healing process and we should reschedule. Eyebrow waxing and chemical peels shouldn’t be done within a week of your appointment as your skin will already be irritated.

AFTER

You’ll leave your appointment with a little goody bag including tissues and healing ointment. Your main goal should be to leave the area alone as much as possible, but also keep it clean + dry. You’ll use the tissues to dab away fluid, but avoid pulling or stretching the skin. Wash gently 2-3 times a day after first day with lukewarm water and clean fingies. You may apply a THIN layer of the ointment with a q-tip if it gets itchy (1-3 times a day), but bot it away to ensure no overuse. Avoid use of ointment if you have more oily skin. Keep it out of the sun throughout the healing process. Applying sunscreen after everything is healed will help with pigment retention. Do not apply any cosmetics in this area until the area is healed. Avoid sweating for a minimum of 10-14 days (did you need an excuse to avoid the gym, because now you have one ;p). Also take lukewarm showers to avoid steam and only wash your face over the sink while carefully avoiding the brow area. Sleep on a clean pillowcase. Avoid chemical peels, exfoliating facials, and microdermabrasion for a month after. Do not pick or scratch at the flakes as it will remove pigment. Keep the area clean and let it breathe!
